Mission:
The South Carolina Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Collaborative has a mission “to provide information and training to communities and to health and human services professionals in South Carolina to help reduce the exposure of infants to alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs during pregnancy.” A secondary purpose of this collaborative is to assist persons working with children and young adults affected by prenatal exposure to alcohol by offering practical parenting tips, providing resources, suggesting quality service provision, and networking.
FASD was first diagnosed in 1973 in the USA. September is a time to celebrate the strengths, talents and victories of the estimated 1 in 20 Americans who have an FASD. Remember there is no safe time and no safe amount of alcohol during pregnancy.
